Brantley County Middle School Parental Involvement Policy

Brantley County Middle School will involve parents in the process of school review and improvement through input received from school-level committees, School Council meetings with parent membership, parent surveys, and other parent input.  Opportunities for parental involvement will be provided through written information distributed to parents through school and classroom newsletters and the local media.

BCMS will build school and parent capacity for strong parental involvement through a variety of activities including but not limited to:

•· Providing information to parents in written form or through meetings on topics such as the state's academic content standards, state and local student achievement standards/assessments, and the requirements of parent involvement

•· Providing assistance to help parents work with their children and monitor their progress to improve their children's achievement

•· Training educational staff on how to build ties between parents and the school

•· Coordinating parent involvement strategies with other programs to the extent feasible and appropriate

•· Providing information to parents in a format, and to the extent feasible, in a language that parents understand

•· Providing reasonable support for parental involvement activities

BCMS will conduct an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parent involvement policy to determine whether there has been increased participation and whether there are barriers to greater participation, particularly by parents who are economically disadvantaged, disabled, have limited English proficiency, have limited literacy, or are of any racial or ethnic minority background.  This data will be obtained from parent, committee, or school council meetings or through parent surveys.

Brantley County Middle School will encourage and support activities that allow the school to effectively involve parents in order to positively impact student success.
